Cabbage Soup

I want to share with you our family recipe for a delicious, hearty, hit the spot when it’s cold out Cabbage Soup! Try it out this weekend! 

What you’ll need

1 package of smoked kielbasa

1/4 cup ground beef

1 small onion

1 cabbage (shredded)

1 celery rib

1 carrot

1-2 16 ounce box of chicken broth/stock

1-2 8 oz cans tomato sauce


1. Brown beef and kielbasa. You may need to drain beef if it has a lot of fat. 

2. Add onion, salt and pepper and saute for a few minutes. 

3. Add the rest of the ingredients, salt, pepper, and a dash of garlic. 

4. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Let cook for at least 30 min until the cabbage is soft, but still has a crunch to it. 

You may need to add more tomato sauce for more flavor or more chicken broth/stock if it is too tomato-y. I don’t measure, I just add, then taste, then add what it needs. 

Tip: To make it a “stuffed cabbage soup” add rice! 



This soup really is great comfort food and it’s healthy! You can leave out the meat all together for a yummy veggie soup or use lean meat for a low fat treat. It’s easy to make and allows you to multitask while it’s cooking.
